Hello! My name is Stephanie.
This past July I and the rest of the mission team went to Ecuador.
To be honest, I had a very difficult time deciding whether or not to go on
this mission trip, but God kept on tugging at my heart to go. After returning from this mission trip I am so overjoyed because of the things God has done in Ecuador.
This being my second time going, I thought that I knew exactly what to expect, but God blew these expectations away. Through this mission trip He revealed to me His unending and free gift of grace, joy, and peace.
Every morning we started the day with Morning Prayer. We then continued to have morning English classes for children, prayer time, VBS, and finally nighttime English classes for adults.
The times of prayer reminded me of the amazing power of prayer. Our God is a God that listens to and answers our prayers. He is our Great Provider. Whatever we lacked He gave. We had many children attending VBS, reaching almost 300 students one day. We had not expected there to be so many kids. Consequently, we were lacking many craft supplies.However, He provided us with alternate supplies for different crafts.
When we were lacking patience God filled our hearts with love. God overcame the language barrier between us and the Ecuadorians and the other missionaries from Peru. We were able to still communicate and build meaningful relationships. This is all because we have the greatest thing in common. We are all united in Christ!
Through this mission trip I saw that God is pursuing the hearts of the children in Catamayo. He is also continuing to pursue my heart. Although I fail to recognize this far too often, I am reminded there is no greater joy than living for Christ!

이번 7월 선교팀과 에콰도를 갔다왔습니다. 솔직히 말해서, 이번 선교는 갈지 않갈지 결정을 내리기가 어려웠습니다. 하지만 하나님께서는 제 마음을 계속 그 곳에 가라고 끌어 당기셨습니다. 이번 선교에서 돌아온 후에 하나님께서 에콰도르에 하신 일들로 기쁨이 넘침니다.
이번 선교여행은 두번째 였습니다. 저는 제게 무엇을 선교를 통해 무엇을 기대하는지 정확히 알고 있다고 생각했습니다. 하지만 하나님은 이런 기대를 흩으셨습니다. 이번 여행을 통해 하나님께서는 그분의 끊임없는 평안과 기쁨 은혜의 자유함들을 저에게 보여주셨습니다.
매일 아침 저희는 새벽 기도로 하루를 시작했습니다.
우리는 계속적으로 아침에는 아이들의 영어를 가르치고 기도하며 VBS를 하고 그리고 마지막
저녁에는 어른들을 위해 영어를 가르쳤습니다. 기도하는 시간들은 저에게 기도의 엄청난 능력에 대해 다시 깨닫게 해주셨습니다. 우리의 하나님은 우리의 기도를 들으시고 우리에게 응답하시는 하나님 이십니다.
하나님은 우리의 능력의 공급자 이십니다. 무엇에든지 우리가 부족할 때에 하나님은 공급하셨습니다. VBS에 참여하는 학생들은 아주 많았는데, 하루에 거의 300명씩 왔었습니다. 우리는 그렇게 많은 아이들이 올줄 예상치 못했습니다. 그래서 우리는 VBS에 필요한 물품들이 부족했습니다. 하지만, 하나님은 우리에게 그 부족한 물품대신 대체할 다른 물품들을 공급해 주셨습니다.
하나님은 우리가 인내심이 부족했을 때, 우리의 마음에 사랑으로 채우셨습니다. 하나님은 에콰도르 사람들과 페루에서 온 다른 미션 팀들과의 언어의 장벽을 극복하게 하셨습니다.
우리는 계속적으로 소통할 수 있었고 또, 의미있는 관계도 만들었습니다. 이 모든 것은 가능했던 이유는 큰 공통문모가 있었기 때문입니다. 바로 우리는 그리스도 안에서 연합되었기 때문입니다.
이번 선교 여행을 통해서 까다마요의 아이들의 마음을 하나님께서 두드리신 다는 걸 보았습니다. 비록 때마다 종종 깨닫지 못하지만, 하나님을 위해 사는 삶보다 더 행복한 삶은 없다는 것을 다시 확인하게 되었습니다.
